iBeetle
Apple and Volkswagen join forces to create a car that allows an unprecedented level of integration between vehicle and iPhone.
Collaboration is key, and technology stalwart Apple has taken an unexpected turn with its latest partner – the VW Beetle, to create a technological motorized masterpiece: the iBeetle. To the untrained and indifferent eye the exterior of the car hasn’t drastically changed – the iconic bumpers and smiling headlights are still standing proud, and complement Apple’s trademark sleek lines and simplistic design, but it’s the interior that’s really been given the Apple makeover.
The iBeetle is not just offering an app for car lovers – it’s a car for iPhone lovers, that has been cranked up to maximize the full capabilities of the user’s phone. A specially designed docking station on the dashboard, a unique iPhone application and access to Spotify, Expert, Trainer, Postcard, Photo and Milestones are just some of the options, whilst also allowing users to share route preferences, locations and photos via social media.
VW has yet to release pricing details, but the iBeetle is set to hit the roads in early 2014, coming in a variety of exterior colour schemes and a plush, premium leather interior. Combine this with your Google Glass and you’re good to go.
