The idea of the travelogue is given an added dimension with a new book created by graphic designers  Bertrand Lanthiez and Chloé Curé. Hvsil - Whispers of Iceland, documents the pair's trip to Iceland and adds the extra dimension of sound to compliment the experience. In recent times we have seen a trend in interactive books becoming a far more sophisticated medium than the traditional pop up books of the past. The Echo Project, for example, recently invited a series of artists to interpret one of the novel's 402 pages and create a digital interpretation of its contents.

For Hvsil, the creators collaborated with Johannes Mandorfer (who contributed ambient sounds) to create a book which invites a more comprehensive explorative experience. The sounds of waves and cracking ice, conversations in rooms and blowing winds are played using electronic sensors hidden within the pages. With sound replacing words, the imagery is free to breath undisturbed, and so the book itself takes on a more cinematic manifestation.
