A common complaint among the growing number of freelancers is that the freedom of working from home can come with unwelcome side-effects, not least isolation and distraction.

The home-office is for many, sorely lacking in both camaraderie and the social pressure to achieve personal goals.Co-working spaces like Neue House in New York are becoming more commonplace but can perhaps still feel too corporate.

Hoffice is a Swedish start-up that takes the co-working ideal and introduces it to a more relaxed environment. The platform allows freelancers to connect with others in their area via a Facebook group, where they can arrange to work from someone's home. If a group does not currently exist in their city, users are invited to play host.

Hoffice also encourages mindfulness, suggesting workers structure their days in intervals of 45 minutes of work followed by 15 minutes of exercise, meditation or simple relaxation, in an effort to boost productivity.

By combining the concept of the sharing economy with the idea of co-working environments, Hoffice hopes to inspire the growing band of freelancers and telecommuters to put their homes and their working day to the best possible use.
