Visual design studio UVA has teamed up with London’s National Maritime Museum for an exhibition inspired by the Arctic. The huge installation called High Arctic opened yesterday and gives visitors a chance to experience and explore the Arctic environment. UVA decided to embark on the project after the team visited the Arctic with Cape Farewell, a cultural foundation that collaborates with artists to encourage awareness of sustainability issues. The highly interactive experience in the exhibition engages with visitors through architecture, lighting, art code, sound design, animation and poetry. UVA aims to recreate the beauty, scale and fragility of the Arctic environment in order to communicate an important message about climate change. It's interesting to see how combining arts and science can promote sustainability and how it raises awareness about climate change. We look forward to seeing more intelligent collaborations for a positive cause.
