The Hibou Radio was the brain child of a collaboration between a gilder and an electronics specialist. Designed by Celia Torvisco and Raphael Pluvinage, Hibou operates by touch. Users can control all its functions, such as volume and frequency by swiping their fingers gently across the pared-down, yet elegant device.

The body of the radio is adorned with special palladium paint, which has conductive properties. The device is covered in geometric patterns, and each one of them matches a particular setting: on/off, volume and frequency…It is meant to be quite intuitive.

Hibou’s design is a great example of the low-tech, traditional aesthetic, and embodied high-tech solution.
