Hewett Street Block Party 2013
Here's what's on the menu for our upcoming Block Party on the 21st.
Last year's Block Party was a ridiculous amount of fun, but this year looks set to blow it out of the water. Here's the lineup of those responsible for the impending good times on Saturday the 21st:
For a wonderfully eclectic mix of genres that'll span everything from disco to hip hop we're teaming up with NTS and live streaming their Saturday program live from Hewett Street. On deck duty we'll have:
Motive (License to Trill)
Bahamian Moor
Jon Rust (Standard Place)
Radi Dadi
Lixo (Get Me)
Crack Stevens (Don't Watch That)
Throwing Shade
Reverie
More TBC...
In terms of food we’ll be turning up the heat for 2013, showcasing some of London’s most exciting chefs in our day-long, carefully curated food court. The all-star line up includes:
Rawduck
Bao London
James Lowe & Brad McDonald
F.A.T. x Family
Motherclucker
La Grotta Ices
Coins Junkyard Snack Bar
Rockwell House Rooftop Bar & BBQ
and more TBA...
Bao London will be serving up a bespoke menu centered around the deep fried bao, with fillings including soy milk fried chicken and hot sauce. For pickle fans, Family brings us pork & fennel meatball sandwiches and kimchi and blue cheese grilled sandwiches, featuring F.A.T. cucumber & dill, fennel and kimchi hot sauce pickles. Damn.
Renowned chefs James Lowe and Brad MacDonald are cooking up carnitas with salsa comal, they’ll also be pulling soft serve ice creams throughout the day. Rawduck, the Hackney sibling of Ducksoup in Soho, will have their famous reuben with wasabi mayo and anchovy & thyme pressed toasts with lemon & parmesan on the day.Our neighbours Motherclucker are cooking up traditional Southern fried chicken, marinated in sweet tea brine and coated in buttermilk, to be served with cornbread. Rockwell House welcomes us to their rooftop, where there’ll be a rum bar and smoky BBQ going. Grab a corndog from Coins Junkyard Snack Bar, and if sweet is more your thing make sure you head to La Grotta Ices, AKA Kitty Travers, who'll be whipping up what is arguably the best ice cream in London. Big statement we know, but with a selection that includes damson choc ices, green walnut & espresso spumoni (ice cream cakes) and fig leaf and raspberry sgroppini (prosecco slurpees) we’re sure you’ll agree with us.And that’s just the food. We’ve lined up workshops and games throughout the day including:
People of Print x Icon with live t-shirt printing
Bow Tie Colouring with Charles Olive
Puck Collective’s temporary tattoo parlour
Get Rich or Tie Dye Trying with Gabriella Marina Gonzalez
DunneFrankowski’s Coffee Cocktails
Yearbook Machine’s Slushy Mania
Books and magazines from Ditto Press
Musical furniture and “Plug + Play” interactive karaoke by the RCA
Fountain of Youth’s coconut shy
Aesop’s Tokyobike... and our ANNUAL CHARITY TOMBOLA with prizes from Ace Hotel, Sager + Wilde, Uniform Wares, Modern Pantry, Tech Will Save Us and many, many more! All tombola proceeds will go to local charity Hackney Pirates, so you can feel good about playing too. We still have the full DJ line up (and exciting radio partnership!) to announce next week, so keep an ear out for that. RSVP now at www.hewettstreetblockparty.com for latest updates and free entry on the day, and see you soon.
