Ever tried cooking using a YouTube recipe only to find oil, sauce and other indelible foodstuffs glued to your laptop or tablet? Handy, a new web app from Flora developed with Lean Mean Fighting Machine, is helping cooks keep their machines mess-free by utlising webcams and gesture-control technology.

By pasting the URL of the video into a box on the Handy website, a left-to-right swipe will play the video, whilst a right-to-left swipe will pause it. A second right- to-left swipe will rewind the video by ten seconds, making sure users have the option to navigate back if they’ve missed anything.  

Compatible with only Google Chrome at the moment, Handy works with any YouTube video, bringing us one step closer to being able to control our hardware entirely through gestures – something that is sure to happen in the near future.
