Developer Bradley Grimm's young son was the inspiration and motivation for an app that uses the latest technology to make bedtime stories more interesting for the techy tykes our smallest are increasingly becoming.

As much as kids love their literary heroes, after a number of pages they may lose interest, but by pulling out the smartphone and showing them hidden worlds that can be discovered through the screen, creating new levels of immersion. With an augmented reality feature integrated into the application, available as a demo on Android and arriving soon on iOS, the characters come to life in 3D on the screen. Goodnight Lad is currently on Kickstarter to raise funds for the completion of the book as a whole.

A number of toys and book projects are trying to dissolve the boundaries between analog and digital media, to keep children connected to traditional learning as well as introducing them to the latest technologies, such as Hvsil and LEO the maker prince.
