By creating global connections through the medium of light, The Good Night Lamp is an interesting example of a physical social network. The beautifully crafted house-like lamps come as a set, a larger lamp that you keep and a smaller lamp that you can give to loved ones anywhere in the world. When you turn on your light it will also activate the smaller lamp which creates a simple ambient indicator connecting people in different places through physical sensations.

Designed by Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino – an interaction designer who runs her own internet of things design practise, designswarm - the light is currently on show at SXSW Interactive Festival and is due to be shipped later this year.
