Stuffy public transport and bitter weather conditions are a well-known recipe for colds, so consultancy firm Gravitytank have come up with a solution: the Germinator Transit Jacket, a garment that protects you from germs.

As disease spreads through touch and air, the Germinator acts as a barrier thanks to its antimicrobial fabric and removable cuffs, collar and hood. The fold-out cuffs with thumb holes prevent fingers touching potentially contaminated surfaces such as poles that could have been sneezed on. The high collar has been lined with antimicrobial material and stops the wearer from breathing in germs. And last but not least, the hood protects from the wind and rain outside, as well as from coming into contact with grimey marks on the windows should the wearer decide to lean over for a nap. All can be removed and washed individually.

The makers have also added a pocket for a travel pass on the right sleeve so there’s no need to fumble around or touch anything when getting on the bus or the train, and zip-fastened vented pockets on each side allow the wearer to cool down quickly if the temperature is much warmer than it is outdoors.
