Developed by the Belgian interactive studio Superbe, Geometric Music is an app that enables users to intuitively create and edit music from the sounds they record.

Creative designers Gaëtan Libertiaux and Gaël Bertrand sought to remove usual music editing features, such as buttons, knobs and sequencers, that require professional know-how, and replaced them with plain geometric shapes that can be easily understood and manipulated. Using the built-in microphone of their device of choice, users can record a sound and select a shape to add a base and rhythm to that recording. Also, by changing the size of the shapes, users can influence the speed, while moving the shapes left or right modifies the volume.

Geometric Music was launched at this year’s Sonar Festivalin Barcelona, and is available for Android, iOS, or any desktop browser.
