Intrigued by the idea that there can be more content within the pages than just what’s on the page, Garage Magazine’s fashion director Charlotte Stockdale has recruited some big hitters to add hidden layers to the latest edition.

Following the success of the Jeff Koons' Lady Bug cover, Stockdale assigned top make-up artist Pat McGrath, photographer Nick Knight, English Hip-Hop producer Alex Da Kid and visual effect studio The Mill to create five special edition covers (featuring Lara Stone, Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Joan Smalls and Binx Walton) that can be turned into augmented 3D sculptures of the model's heads using the accompanying Garage app.

However, Stockdale wanted to carry on the theme within the magazine. The app also unlocks a wealth of other content inside, including an a virtual sculpture by Francesco Vezzoli, an eerie fashion film series by Nick Knight and a virtual 3D visit to the new Garage Museum building by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas.

As print and digital publishing continue to forge their very independent paths, perhaps a third medium that offers the best of both worlds isn’t that inconceivable.
