Around 60 people came down to explore what we might eat in 2050, enjoy a beer and try some edible insects. We had three awesome guest speakers join us, with Protein's Max Reyner chairing the event and interviewing each guest about their projects.

The evening kicked off with a fascinating talk from Jon Fraser, an RCA student behind Ento, a project looking at how insects can be introduced into the Western diet. Next, Sam Bompas from experimental culinary artist duo Bompas and Parr explored the future of food as documented in sci-fi films, culminating in the passing round of a huge glittery chalice filled with a cocktail inspired by Douglas Adam's 'Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster', or as he called it, 'the alcoholic equivalent of a mugging.' Finally Sam Henderson from Dalston's Farm:Shop gave us an inspiring insight into urban farming, aquaponics and community-supported agriculture. After the presentations, a great discussion started up with plenty of questions from the audience that prompted some interesting debates. And to top it all off there were some mopani worms, bbq mealworms and super eco egg mayo sandwiches to try.
