The ever amazing Field Notes have just launched a new collection of memo books, The National Crop Edition, which brings them back to their roots. The whole Field Notes brand is inspired by the long tradition of promotional books distributed to American farmers across the 19th Century and this particular collection celebrates this with a series of books dedicated to farmers and the 6 leading crops they grow. Using 7 different paper stocks, each book is a different colour and full of information about American corn,  soybeans, hay, wheat, cotton and sorghum.

If that wasn't exciting enough, a film has also been released to coincide with the collection. Named 'From Seed', the film features Field Notes co-founder Aaron Doplin showcasing his huge collection of such vintage agricultural books that he has been collecting over the years. In fact, over 100 of these originals have been carefully scanned in and can be viewed on the Field Notes 'Memo Archive'.

The project and film are a lovely concept and illustrate the design heritage, passion and enthusiasm behind the brand. Check out their site here.
