When banks create special service for customers, most of the time they’re targeting the wealthy. But a bank in Singapore has created a whole new brand especially for young people.

Frank by OCBC is a bank aimed at 18-30 year olds, with services, products and branches tailored specifically to this group’s needs. For instance, the bank card can be completely customised, by selecting different colours and images that are printed on to the front. The branches have been given a young identity, too, and appear more like a music store than a fusty old financial building. As for the services on offer, the bank account has a management system that lets customers separate savings from their expenses - a handy tool to have for a generation struggling to find their first job while paying off their debts.

It’s good to see a banking organisation finally appealing specifically to the next generation of financial customers, who have markedly different needs to the generations before. Hopefully we’ll see more banks updating themselves and going a little further than just offering a student loan.
