Framed is a stylish new spy-thriller graphic novel by Australian design studio Loveshack. Unlike your average graphic novel, the storyboard is animated, and gives the player control over the narrative outcome.

Set in a noir comic book world and starring a silhouetted hero in a trench and fedora, the graphic novel challenges players to propel the story forward by solving puzzles. Introducing an element of gameplay into the comic book format, the story is segmented into different frames which the player is able to move around freely, changing the overall outcome of the story. To get the protagonist out of sticky situations in this spy-thriller noir world, the player must rearrange the panels in order to rescue the cloaked character from an uncertain fate.

Elegantly demonstrating the way games have the potential to tell stories in a more immersive and engaging way than traditional storytelling forms, Framed's fragmented narrative and cartoon-spy schtick evokes Simogo's triumphant Device 6, albeit with a less sinister vibe.
