The rapid evolution of 3D printing over the last year has brought about all kinds of impressive (and sometimes frightening) creations, foretelling the seemingly infinite potential of the medium. Perhaps one of the most exciting developments so far has been the advent of printed food, something that Barcelona-based start-up Natural Machines are looking to introduce into the home with a new appliance named Foodini.
Intended as a domestic device, Foodini’s many functions have been designed to cut down the time needed for handmade food preparation. Activities like rolling pasta dough, filling pieces of ravioli and cookie cutting are all taken care of, with the appliance streamlining preparation processes and printing to specified shape, height, and volume measurements. So far, the Natural Machines team have printed delectable dishes like pumpkin gnocchi, pizza, crackers, a bean patty and cheese sauce onto a burger. As an added bonus, Foodini's sleek design means it will sit well alongside other appliances in your kitchen, with a refined aesthetic that looks every bit as appealing as the food it prints.
