Self-titled ‘foodcurator’ Lucas Mullié has teamed up with conceptual designer Digna Kosse to create a series of industrial, table sized factories called Foodconverters. Combining the tasks of food preparation with food conservation the machines are able to create factory lines worth of dishes that incorporate time into the creation process. Currently the project has produced three machines. The clock-like ‘Herbal Filter’ that is responsible for the flavours, the ‘Cyclical Rumtopf’ a streamlined version of the traditional German method of pickling fruit in rum and the ‘Food Membranes’ that work by using the time it takes to dissolve various layers as an indicator of when the food is ready. The installation is currently part of Dutch Design Week.
