British Airways has announced plans to build a pop-up restaurant based on the interior of a first-class cabin on Shoreditch High St in London next month. The concept aims to promote the experience of travel with the airline brand during the Olympic months.

The idea has been described as an ‘in-flight dining experience’ by BA, with the restaurant named after the aircraft model Flight BA2012. It will also function as a three-in-one art gallery, cinema and dining lounge, exhibiting work by British artists such as Richard E Grant, Tracey Emin and Heston Blumenthal. The food, which has been described as ‘an inspired BA menu dating back to 1948’, will be a highlight, and will be prepared by Simon Hulstone, as mentored by Blumenthal. Although at £50 per head, let's hope the dinner is a big improvement on typical in-flight meals.
