Findery, a new iOS app from the co-founder of Flickr, is bringing locations around its users to life. By encouraging users to pin notes to certain spots on a map (notes could be historical facts, anecdotes or personal comments for example), Findery aims to let people leave and find stories about the physical places they visit.

The app is much more than a typical recommendation service like Foursquare. Relying on personal experiences that are tied to physical locations, it acts as a crowdsourced guide to your location – perfect for discovering overlooked places as much as finding out interesting trivia about where you are.

Like Hello Lamp Post, Findery is hoping to get its users to interact with their immediate surroundings and engage with the world around them – simultaneously giving these places a sense of personality and history.
