Films on Fridges is a temporary pop-up cinema in London made entirely from recycled fridges. The month long project is situated in the city's Hackney Wick district, near to the new Olympic site, and will screen a selection of classic and independent sports related films.

The project takes its inspiration from the removal of East London's 'fridge mountain', an enormous pile of discarded fridges that used to occupy a landfill area where the Olympic Village is now located.

We've seen several pop-up cinema projects recently, such as Folly for a Flyover, also in London's Hackney Wick district. This indicates a continued interest in people that want to watch films in a more experiential and temporary environment.

The Films on Fridges project opens tomorrow evening and will be running until the 13th of August.
