Smartwatches are certainly become more prolific these days – the Meteor Smartwatch we saw recently for example – but none work perhaps as seamlessly as the new offering from FiLIP. Designed as a device to help parents relax a little, the colourful smartwatch allows kids the freedom to explore, whilst staying connected to those who matter most.

Using the FiLIP smartphone app for iOS and Android, a plethora of features are available to users. Parents can phone their children, send texts, track their children’s locations and set ‘SafeZones’ – virtual radii around a specific location (a school, for example). When the child enters or leaves the ‘SafeZone’, mum and dad get a notification. And, in case of emergency, children can hit the red button to call the first person on their contact list. If there’s no answer, the device calls another four contacts, whilst the child’s location is sent to the first contact.

There’s not really much in the way of new technology here – we’ve seen tracking and phone technology in use many times before – but FiLIP has refined these technologies and packaged them in an innovative way that parents are sure to appreciate.
