Eunoia is a mind-bending performance by New York based artist Lisa Park, in which she uses her brain waves to manipulate water. While meditating, Lisa is wearing a headset device embedded with EEG sensors that measure brain activity frequencies associated with emotional states.

By linking Processing with Max/MSP and Reaktor, the data is transformed into sound waves that reverberate on five pools of water in metal dishes placed on top of speakers. The intensity of the sounds matches the intensity of her feelings, each different sound corresponding to a state of consciousness.

Lisa’s goal is to reach a moment of emotional silence, perfect stillness, when no sound or vibration would come from the speakers.
