Eternity is an installation made from 36 electronic clocks that spells the word Eternity every 12 hours. American artists Alicia Eggert and Mike Fleming collaborated to develop the concept, rear-mounting the clocks to a large white sheet and aligning the minute and hour hands in such a way that they spell the word Eternity in 12 hour intervals. The clock hands are a jumble of moving black lines. But for a split second they align in perfect position to create the letters of the word Eternity. Watch the time-lapse video above showing the installation in action. Eggert primarily works on interactive sculpture projects and enjoys exploring time-based media. It’s interesting to see how she has created a real-time, real-life animation with this project.
