The advent of Instagram and similar smartphone apps have turned us all into photographers. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, chances are you're (technologically speaking, at least) capable of shooting the latest lookbook for your friend's brand new boutique fashion label. All you need is your phone, a bit of creative intuition and a few spare minutes to tinker with the different (and seemingly infinite) portable editing possibilities around today.

Whilst film photography has all but become a purist's pursuit, the gap between digital photography and its more tangible analog antecedent has been getting smaller with products like Thirty Six, re-injecting some old fashioned limitations into digital photography. Enter Enfojer, a portable photographic enlarger and the latest in a long list of products and apps that fuse the new with the old. Aimed at hobbyists whose interest in photography stretches past the realms of point and click, Enfojer allows you to turn digital photos saved on your smartphone into 6x6 black and white prints. Bundled within the kit is (nearly) everything you'll need to set up a fully functional photo lab at home, including a portable, battery powered red light that lets you set up shop wherever you might find yourself. However it's worth noting that development chemicals aren't included due to international restrictions on shipping liquids.

With a proposed price of $250 per kit (each kit contains 100 pieces of Ilford photo paper), the founders of Enfojer claim their product is a cheaper alternative to prints made on a digital printer. Wanting to realise their dream and go into full production, they are currently seeking funding and hope to "preserve the old art of photo development” in the process*.
