Lately there has been a lot of news coverage on drones and how they might change the future, but they're yet to seem that useful to your someone without a covert surveillance mission to conduct. Now Jasper van Loenen's DIY (Drone it Yourself) v1.0 kit allows anyone to create a drone out of anything.

The kit consists of a remote control and several 3D printed pieces that can be easily put together and attached to a variety of objects, such as bike wheels, or books. Furthermore, the designs for the plastic parts are available online for free, so users can customize and print them to suit their own needs.

This opens up the drone industry to a wide range of projects, from artistic interventions in the public space, to short distance deliveries.
