If you've been living in the same city for a while it can often be hard to diverge from your normal haunts and discover new places. New app, Drift, developed by Broken City Lab and artist Justin Langlois aim to change that with their new app which encourages city exploration.

Drift guides users on a walk using randomly assembled instructions, asking users to, 'move in a specific direction and look for something normally hidden or unnoticed in our everyday experiences.' Instructions are more than just, 'turn left' or 'turn right' though, with displays instead asking users to document these experiences with their camera. This allows a photographic record of each walk to be collected, all of which are uploaded to the Drift website for others to view.

As discussed in our Urban Nomads Breakfast Briefing, the app is another good example of technology allowing users to explore their area in new depth and fostering a renewed sense of local discovery.
