New web platform Juice VCR aims to recreate an era when music channels played music.
Juice VCR plays music – but, refreshingly, in a period when the internet means we can get exactly what we want whenever we want, you don’t get to choose what. Designed by antipattern, the web channel plays a continuous stream of DIY and independent music videos, but has no search function – you can only pause or skip to the next one, ensuring that you end up repeatedly stumbling upon something new.
Videos come from more established artists like Lil B, Skepta and Joanna Newsom, interspersed with the home-brewed aesthetics of musicians you’re sure to have never heard of. But even if you don’t like all of it, the expertly curated content from creator Jessica Straker will provide a near inexhaustible treasure trove of videos you’d never discover yourself.
