A new gallery space that places cuisine at its heart

The museum experience is changing. Virtual reality, faeces themed art, you name it museums are doing it. The latest is ArtDeli in Amsterdam, a gallery space that’s also a dining hall-cum-design shop. Combining multiple senses in one exhibition experience, ArtDeli fuses art, design and cuisine in the setting of an old comedy theatre.

Each element of the space compliments the other — food is enjoyed in the presence of art, and every two months the exhibitions change, allowing visitors a chance to buy the pieces that take their fancy.  Artists such as Thijs Linssen, Bas van Beek and Matilda Beckman are on display in rooms that are decorated or designed by young and upcoming designers — there’s a bar by Lex Pott, and a boardroom curated by Tessa Koot.

ArtDeli is an example of a new, relaxed gallery experience. A far cry from the stiff environment of the traditional gallery, ArtDeli let’s visitors decide how to frame the art.
