Watch eight new groundbreaking audiovisual performances at BFI Southbank Sonic Cinema has teamed up with Elektra and Mutek, two digital art festivals from Québec, to present a bold and ambitious series of live audiovisual performances, at the intersection of music, sound and digital art, featuring eight UK premieres over two consecutive nights. Digital Québec will present work from some of Canadas' most innovative and experimental A/V creators for the very first time on British soil. Expect a performance exploring data-bending shapes into sound by new media artist Greg Debicki; electroacoustic experimentation from sound artist Matthew Biederman and live ‘audio-kinetic’ sculptures that use real-time seismic data, from audiocinetic sculptor Herman Kolgen.Recently we've been seeing a rise in artists and technologists working together to create exciting, immersive projects that bring audiences into the fold, like PJ Harvey's Recording In Progress project, which let fans witness the making of her latest album, or FKA Twigs announcement that she's working with on a seven day residency at Manchester International Festival. Fans want more than just a MP3 stream off Soundcloud, and live performances like Digital Québec promise to deliver. 'Sonic Cinema, Elektra and Mutek present: Digital Québec' at BFI Southbank, London, on March 13-14.
