A new three-way collaboration between Vodaphone Romania furniture retailer Mobexpert and advertising agency Mcann Bucharest has managed to re-contextualise the role of the bookshelf for the modern world.

To create a personal library users need to click on to the Biblioteca Digitalia site and choose what titles they want, as well as having the option of personalise the shelf with their own photos. Each 'book' is accompanied with a QR code, which, when scanned, gives them access to the pages within. It's an interesting melding of new technology sold in a traditional form. In times where space is a valuable commodity the adhesive wallpaper has obvious benefits, as well as giving users the opportunity to show off how well read they are in ways that would be impossible with a Kindle.

In recent times there has been a push in the digital world to help promote more traditional means of reading. For example students from the Miami Ad School recently created The Virtual Library to help promote interest in New York's libraries by offering commuters a peak into books as they travel the New York Subway.
