Last night we hosted our Internet Week Europe Forum in collaboration with Crane.TV exploring digital art, and how the internet is shaking up the art world. Over 80 people turned up to enjoy a beer, watch an awesome Crane.tv video (see part one above), and gain some inspiration from our 4 expert speakers.

On the panel we had Louise Shannon, curator and Deputy Head of Contemporary Programmes at the V&A. Back in 2011 she curated the V&A's first exhibition focussing on digital technologies, 'Decode: Digital Desing Sensations' and she discussed how galleries are stepping up and embracing digital art. No stranger to Protein Forums, Shane Walter, founder of onedotzero, was also on the panel. Hosting a world renowned film and arts festival, onedotzero, and Walter himself, have become synonymous with innovative, original digital art.

Also up there was James Davis, the online collection editor for the Tate and Program Manager for the Google Art Project, a digital accumulation of some of the finest artworks, collected from galleries and museums around the world. And finally we had Protein favourites (and the artists behind our current 18 Hewett Street gallery show, Cretaceous Returns) Reed + Rader representing. The duo peddle a unique combination of eye-catching GIFs, fashion conscious designs and a web-savvy aesthetic, and discussed what its like for artists working in the digital format.

The forum hosted a great discussion, with stimulating questions form the audience exploring issues around copyrighting, brands as commissioners, the relationship between online and offline, digital collection and funding. Check out the twitter hashtag for the night #digitaldisruption to see how the audience were live-tweeting.

All in all it was great success - thanks to everyone that came down, our excellent panellists and Crane.TV for collaborating with us. Our next forum is on December 11th on The Future of Listening, exploring whether music has become too disposable and how our audience are discovering (and rediscovering) music through new technology and innovative social applications.
