To showcase the works of FH Mainz (University of Applied Sciences in Germany) students, DIAZJN came up with an interesting exhibition concept that uses RFID-enabled plates. By interacting with different dinnerware, visitors get to choose what art project they will see next on a screen in front of them.

Each plate is embedded with five different RFID tags corresponding to five artworks, and visitors can scan their way through projects by simply spinning the plates. However, there’s a catch: the projects are only vaguely classified by a word (e.g. ”white”). So people don’t know what type of project they will see next, whether it is a film, or graphic art.

We believe this novel and interactive way of showcasing artworks not only captivates the visitor's attention, but also encourages serendipitous discovery through design.
