Derren Brown Has Designed a VR Ghost Train at Thorpe Park
Derren Brown has entered the virtual reality market with a new ghost ride for Thorpe Park in England.
We’ve been told repeatedly that VR is the next big thing. Documentaries, real estate, even porn, they’re all jumping on the virtual reality bandwagon.
It’s not surprising then that one of the UK’s biggest theme parks wants to start bringing VR content into its programme. Today, Thorpe Park unveiled a plan for a VR ghost train designed by none other than the ‘mentalist’ Derren Brown.
The ride revolves around a 20 metre long Victorian train carriage, suspended in mid-air. Although the specifics of what happens in the ride are still up in the air, if the trailer is anything to go by some sort of virtual zombies will be involved.
VR has the potential to change how we tell stories, using it for an adventure park seems a smart way to enhance the whole experience. But, with the ride not being opened until spring of this year, we'll have to wait a few months to see if it lives up to the hype.
