Dazed x Protein: Trash Fashion Forum
Protein and Dazed are hosting a forum looking at the innovations that are set to revolutionise the fashion industry.
From Alexander McQueen and John Galliano to Maison Martin Margiela and Gareth Pugh, trash fashion has been a constant source of inspiration to designers. Using ideas of recycling and reclamation, these design rebels challenged the formalities of high-end fashion and transformed the industry forever.
In the future, however, trash fashion will take on a whole new meaning. It will evolve beyond being an aesthetic idea and become a new way for designers to respond to the industry’s ever-growing environmental constraints and turbulent economic conditions. Punk design principles will disrupt how we make and create, using science-led concepts such as material innovation and future manufacturing techniques. And the punks themselves – the pioneers of this change – will be the designers conjuring up future processes by working with scientists in laboratories rather than just the confines of their studio.
To understand this trash fashion future, Protein teamed up with the seminal fashion magazine to produce a live forum event that will aim to explore the challenges and issues facing the fashion industry in coming years – and how designers, technologists and material scientists are innovating in response. Join us on the 16th July to learn and discuss the topic with a panel of experts, from commentators to designers themselves, and find out how trash fashion will be a become an increasingly sustainable design solution.
