With the increase of wearable tech, we're literally wearing our data on our sleeves. Our details could be claimed with the swipe of a smart card or through travel into the cloud. To protect our information from hacks, invasion and undesired exposure designer Ji Won Jun has designed a system to very publicly and defensively extinguish data on the go via a Data Vaporiser backpack.

Composed of a sensor called a 'Data Inhaler' and a very conspicuous smoke machine, the Data Vaporiser backpack allows wearers to intercept data from their own or other people's devices, pick it up through an Arduino receiver and vaporise it. The data is permanently deleted, demonstrated through a thick dry ice smoke emitted in the air. The data inhaler is activated when others venture too close or can be triggered at will. In this context, the deleting of data is used as a defence mechanism to discourage would-be data thieves.

Where private messaging apps like like Snapchat, BlinkLink and the more recent Cloak have started to protect our mobile interactions, we'll expect to see further 'wearable privacy' devices and anti-surveillance fashion concepts enter the fray. Check out Focus and Stealth Wear for further instances of such experimental apparel.
