Dante Gonzales aka Dante Fried Chicken is back in town. Our favourite chef is in London for the first time in 2 years to bang his chicken drum at a 3-day pop up taco shack at our concept space 18 Hewett Street. The taco shack will be set up in honour of Danteʼs up and coming LA-shack in Silverlake. Longtime friend of Protein, Dante's known for everything from his web show (which kicked off with artists such as Santigold, Mos Def and CocoRosie) to his award winning Ride or Fry food truck which he cruises around the States. You may also remember when Dante was thrown headfirst into the madness of Notting Hill Carnival, where he fed over 2000 hungry and incredibly grateful Notting Hill Carnival goers at the Red Bull party we helped throw a while back. Chef DFC was influenced by Mexican food as a kid growing up in LA eating his grandmotherʼs infamous Mofongo Gumbo Tamales and sopas. After the success of his award-winning Ride or Fry LA food truck serving up his signature Transatlantic African cuisine of Cajun-inspired soul food with Asian, Latin and European influences, he now unveils his next concept, creating Mexican street food with a soul food and ultimate Dante Fried Chicken twist. Lucky for us, before Dante shoots off to NYC on his next food-based escapade at Le Grand Fooding's Campfire session heʼll be serving up some of his most well-known dishes for us on home turf. We're talking Sock-It-To-Me Fried Chicken Tacos and Blueberry Guinness Smoked Brisket here... no messing. To round it all off on Sunday, Dante will be celebrating by serving up tamales on top of the usual menu. Taking the tradition that Sunday is for enjoying life, forgetting about work, vibing to good music, and generally tucking in with your family and friends, DFC ends his taco weekender on the perfect note. Check out what heʼs got in store for you:
