Social media enthusiast Guy Kawasaki and Samuel Adams brewers have announced that they are teaming up to crowdsource a new beer via Facebook. Using an interactive Facebook application, the aptly named Crowd Craft project invites fans to determine every aspect of the collaborative brew.

The app users will have the power to determine the absolute fundamentals of the end product; from colour and clarity to malt, hops and yeast, as well as the overall body of the flavour. Following the deadline of February 5th, Samuel Adams will use the favourites from each category to develop the recipe for the crowdsourced beer.

Homegrown beer makers have made their mark on East London over the past few years, something that we picked up on in one of our previous Briefings. However, the Crowd Craft project appears to be taking the proliferation and democratisation of the beer making process to a new level. The beer will be available at Guy Kawasaki’s Girl + Guy party in Austin on March 10th 2012 during the SXSW festival. The beer will also be on tap in select bars throughout Austin and at the Samuel Adams Brewery in Boston, MA.
