The Swedish clothing brand have collaborated with Snarkitecture for Salone del Mobile

“By imagining a world that bends the reality of expectation, visitors of Salone del Mobile are invited to relax, interact and recharge amongst the chaos of the festival,” say Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustnen of New York based studio Snarkitecture.

Inspired by COS' spring/summer collection, the installation features technical lightness and luminescence, reflected through an immersive translucent cave. The entire structure is constructed by thousands of strips of layered fabrics hanging from the ceiling to the floor. The duo chose the fabric for its translucent quality and its similarity to a material used in the latest COS collection.

The zen garden is a way for the brand to engender a more meaningful relationship with consumers; to give something back through slightly more subtle marketing. Visitors walk through a curtain of the strips to enter the space, and can then choose to follow the path created by the shorter lengths or pull aside the longer sections to cut through the spaces. The COS Spring Summer 2015 collections for men and women are displayed at the end of the journey along the concrete path.

Collaborative fashion/art installations have become de riguer. To celebrate the opening of Diesel’s flagship store in Rome, POSTmatter magazine collaborated with Berlin based artist digital artist Andreas Nicholas Fischer to create an abstract digital organism that envelops its audience as they enter the store.
