Video chatting has still not quite reached the level of ubiquity sci-fi films of old would have had us believe. BERG, the design studio/consultancy responsible for the Little Printer, have been working with Google on exploring methods of video calling. They’ve come up with this, the standalone Connbox.

Displaying two screens, the device connects directly to another over wi-fi, with the option to blur your image or ‘mute’ it altogether by drawing a curtain over it. The Connbox is just at prototype stage, but is more about opening up space, and connecting space, than serving as a functional, portable, replacement to your video phone.
