This year, North Carolina's annual Moogfest played host to M.I.A., the Pet Shop Boys, Flying Lotus and more. In addition to having the chance to see their favourite acts, festival goers were able to make their own music with a rather unusual method.

Courtesy of Odd Division's Conductar, fans at Moogfest were able to compose music with their brainwaves by using an immersive, augmented-reality app. As visitors explored the festival grounds and arrived at different areas, they were able to produce a generative audio-visual world that was made from their movements and neurological responses to the environment. Users had to wear a brainwave sensor and connect it up to the iOS app, then, by walking around, sounds and visuals were composed according to their thoughts.
Another neurological installation that comes to mind is Biomeditation, a performance project that produces artwork using your brainwaves, while Brain Trip utilised a special interface to send participants on a surreal journey that was partially controlled by electric activity in the brain.
