Create a unique fragrance with Commodity's Try at Home Fitting Kit

Niche fragrance brand Commodity, known for their unorthodox list of scents, has teamed up with with LVMH's cosmetics store Sephora, to bring the Try at Home Fitting Kit experience to a retail market.

"At Commodity Goods, we created a fragrance experience that is completely about you, the person wearing the scent,” said CEO Ash Huzenlaub. “For our online channel, the Try At Home model enables you to try our entire line at your own pace before you commit to a specific fragrance.”

From Rain or Moss, Whiskey to Book, customers can layer and conjure a scent cocktail that is unique to them. Each fragrance can be worn alone or mixed together to create a nearly thousand different combinations if the whole line is layered.

Now set up in 35 Sephora locations, Commodity bypasses the mass fragrance market with their innovative approach to customisation. Having originally launched as a Kickstarter campaign, consumers can now select from a range of custom-tailored aromas to stand out from the crowd.

Consumers are looking for alternative ways to discover their signature scent. Desirée Parfums store in Milan decanted its fragrances into non-descript tester bottles before organising them by aromatic quality rather than brand. For something as personal as fragrance, these brands have proved that personalisation is key.
