In teaming up with The Ethical Fashion Initiative, Camper has provided work for artisanal shoemakers while diversifying their own manufacturing processes.

Consumer attitudes towards sustainable fashion have undergone a gradual yet impactful transformation. An increased sense of social responsibility mean that the way a product was made, and by whom, is no longer a niche concern.

In light of this, brands are making a concerted effort to ensure that workers who’re remunerated adequately make their sustainable products. Spanish fashion brand Camper has teamed up with the Ethical Fashion Initiative to produce a collection of shoes created by local artisans in Ethiopia.

Since launching the initiative in 2015, Camper have successfully created a small but carefully conceived collection comprised of a vegetable tanned leather boot and a sandal, which, in keeping with its cultural origins, is available in a broad range of vivid colours.

The range, which will only be available at selected CamperLab Stores and from Camperlab online, will be released on April 21st.

Alongside providing consistent work for the Ethiopian shoemakers, Camper’s collaboration with the Ethical Fashion Initiative has brought about advancements in the brands management practices, and helped to diversify their leather manufacturing processes.
