Hip-hop magazine Brick launches its first issue with a photography exhibition at Protein Studios

"Brick is a bi-annual music and lifestyle publication representing the new age of Hip-Hop culture," says founder Hayley Louisa Brown, and editor Grant Brydon, explaining the story behind the launch of their new hefty 264-page tome. "We want to provide an elegant and aspirational platform that examines Hip-Hop, not hirsute as a style of music, but as a cultural and sociological movement that pays respect to pioneers, forgotten heroes and the most cutting-edge contemporaries."

To celebrate Brick’s launch, Protein's Studio 2 will be showcasing a curated selection of photography from the first edition. Expect thought-provoking, long-form content, interviews with a new-wave of Hip-Hop stars – like, Wiz Khalifa, Schoolboy Q, YG, Joey Bada$$, Tinashe, T.I., Cam’ron – and clean, contemporary imagery shot by talent like Neil Bedford (Vogue Hommes Japan, GQ Style), Olivia Rose (i-D, Clash) and Samuel Bradley (Vogue Italia, Another, Timberland).

Long-form publishing is undergoing a revival. Collectively we're experiencing 'content overload'. Our smartphones are constantly updated with quick, off-the-cuff news updates, and our social networks are full to the brim with friends' photos, videos and 'insightful' commentary. People are looking for digital downtime, and new print magazines, like Brick, are satisfying a need for intelligent, informative and in-depth content.
