Boxed from Tyrone Stoddart on Vimeo.

Sustainability is in the design DNA of Tyrone Stoddart's latest project, BOXED. The Scottish designer has developed a multifunctional and adaptable piece of furniture that all fits into a single suitcase. Within the suitcase are the pieces required to set up a desk, coffee table, two stools and a lamp. Each piece is easily assembled, with no need for any tools. Not only does the BOXED project meet high standards of form and function, but it's also entirely made wood from Ash wood. The significance of this choice is to raise awareness of a disease called Chalara, a disease  caused by a pathogenic fungus that affects Ash trees.

Each suitcase comes with a pack of Ash tree seeds for the customer to replant to help them understand the severity of the problem and to replenish the material that is being used to make the furniture.
