Recently opened and taking over a disused lot in New York City, the Guggenheim Lab is part public gathering space and part think-tank. Emerging figureheads from the fields of art, architecture, education, science and technology have been invited to lead a number of projects, programmes and discourses to generate ideas and solutions that will tackle issues in the local area in the hope of improving urban life.

Members of the public can participate in the various free workshops and experiments and follow the programme online through the website and its social network pages. After New York, the Guggenheim Lab will move to Berlin and then to Mumbai, and will eventually reach a total of nine major global cities over the next six years.

Whereas individuals in the community may feel powerless to make a difference in their area singlehandedly, an open forum like this allows them to connect with like-minded people and experts, share their thoughts and ideas and together create positive change in their city.
