Summer's on its way and for some of us that means hitting the shops to buy a new summer wardrobe. For those in New York this experience has been made a whole lot more simple with Bloomingdale's new interactive window displays.

The Lexington Avenue branch has replaced 6 of its windows with interactive sunglasses displays which allows passers by to try on glasses virtually. The displays are LCD screens which identify the location of a viewer's eyes and virtually place a selection of sunglasses onto their face. Each window is dedicated to a different designer (from Marc Jacobs to Gucci) with four sunglasses available to 'try on' per screen. Shoppers can even see what they look like from both a head-on and profile view. If the shopper then decides to buy, they can press a 'print' button which sends a picture of themselves in their desired glasses to the 'Sunglasses Style Bar' where a sales-assistant will help them purchase the real thing.

The project's certainly given 'window shopping' a new meaning....we hope to see similar technology in the UK soon!
