Bigshot Camera
A kit that aims to teach kids about the technology behind digital cameras by letting them build their own from scratch.
As society becomes ever more complex, being knowledgable and well informed about the technology that supports us in everyday life has become not only more difficult, but more useful.
Cue Bigshot Camera. Much like Konstruktor, the product enables those as young as eight years old to build their own fully functional and ready to use digital camera from scratch, along the way, teaching them about the core hardware.
A step-by-step guide offers a crash course on basic tech, and gives kids the chance to see how the internal machinery works. An online guide introduces key terms such as ‘dynamo’ and ‘polyoptic wheel’ to the users vocabulary, while covering all the basic concepts including optics, mechanics, electromagnetisms, electronics and image processing. The additional 'Swiss Army' lens with multiple imaging options means Bigshot Camera is well equipped to also teach kids photographic techniques.
This hands on approach to learning is both engaging and effective, and uses, in a similar way to Chineasy, technology and design as the optimum avenue for contemporary learning.
