It seems having a lead singer who also moonlights as a computer programmer has its advantages, particularly when you're a band trying to come up with innovative ways to promote your newest song. Preflight Nerves, the latest single from Australian band Brightly is taking a couple of interesting steps in getting itself out there.

Firstly, when fans download the single they're given a unique code which can be registered on their site. This code can be shared and then its progress is tracked on a map, showing the path where others that you've shared it with have used it, thereby mapping its viral 'success'. Once ten people have shared it, the original owner can claim a free copy of the entire album, Beginnings and Endings.

Much like Vinetune, the crowdsourced music video we looked at last week, Brightly's video for the single uses API searches of tweets and matches them up to the song lyrics to create a accompanying tweet stream that's unique with every play.
