It was St Patrick’s Day yesterday, and I’m sure we all lifted our Lenten restrictions and indulged in one too many pints of the Irish nectar. Perhaps a little slow to start today. Well, speaking of beer, even though some may not be in the mood this morning, we took a look at what people typically drink when they go out at a night.

Beer was the most popular choice for drinking when out – men perhaps unsurprisingly dominating this group, with 71% of beer-drinkers being male. Wine predictably follows age here too, with older age groups more likely to choose wine as their tipple of choice. Mixed and spirit-based drinks followed the opposite age trend, however, with the 16-18 age group being the dominant and females taking the lead.
